Your recordings stay yours.

Last updated: June 2026

MVO is built to keep your recordings yours. It runs as a native macOS app and does its work on your Mac, not in the cloud. This page explains exactly what that means.

The short version: your recordings, audio and transcripts never leave your device. MVO has no account system and uploads nothing by default.

What stays on your device

Everything involved in making a recording stays local. The captured video and audio, the on-device transcription used for captions, the click and zoom data behind auto-zoom, and every exported MP4, GIF or MOV are written only to your Mac, in a folder you choose. MVO does not stream, copy or back up any of it to a server.

What MVO does not collect

MVO does not require an account. It does not ask for your name, your email or payment details in order to record and export. It contains no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics that profile you.

Information you choose to give us

Two optional cases involve sending us information, and you start both of them deliberately:

Waitlist email. If you enter your email to hear about a future paid version, we store that address only to send you that announcement. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
Support requests. If you email support or use the contact form, we receive whatever you write, including any details or files you attach.

Diagnostics

MVO does not send automatic crash reports or usage telemetry. If a future version offers opt-in diagnostics, it will stay off until you turn it on, and this page will be updated to describe it.

Apple frameworks

MVO relies on Apple frameworks that run on your device, including ScreenCaptureKit, SpeechAnalyzer and the Foundation Models framework. Transcription and any on-device intelligence happen locally through these frameworks. Your use of macOS is also governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Your choices

Because your content lives on your Mac, you control it directly. Move it, delete it, or exclude folders from backup using the tools macOS already gives you. To remove a waitlist email or ask a question about this policy, contact us.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and, for material changes, note them clearly. Continued use of MVO after an update means you accept the revised policy.
